Organization - Property Evidence Unit

The Property & Evidence units’ main purpose is to maintain any property and evidence that comes under the control of the police department. With that comes the responsibility of storing all the items, making it available for investigative or court purposes, keeping track of all it and returning it to the owner as soon as possible. Also, we are required to dispose of items in an authorized manner.

These items can range from a single strand of hair to furniture to vehicles. Some of the most unusual items we have had are a stuffed buffalo head and the cremated remains of some poor soul. Fortunately we were able to locate the rightful owners of these items.

We do not conduct bike auctions for unclaimed bikes. We hold a charity “give-away” twice a year to Chandler non-profit organizations.

Other unclaimed property is sent to the City of Chandler's auction vendor Sierra Auction. If you have questions regarding auctions, please contact Sierra Auctions at (602) 242-7121 or visit their website at sierraauction.com.
