Organization - Crime Prevention Unit

The Chandler Police Department Crime Prevention Unit implements community-policing programs that help to educate citizens about crime and crime prevention techniques. Through the use of these educational and informational programs the Crime Prevention Team attempts to reduce the potential of Chandler residents becoming victims of crime.

To reach out to our community the City of Chandler is divided into seven districts. There are 3 crime prevention officers and one sergeant. Each crime prevention officer is specially trained in the field of crime prevention and continually develops and implements crime prevention programs to help make Chandler a safer community to live. Programs like Block Watches, Business Watches, District Meetings, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (C.P.T.E.D.) evaluations and the Crime Free Multi-Housing program are utilized by the crime prevention team to partner with the community and reduce crime.

The Crime Prevention Unit uses programs such as block watch to form partnerships with the community to help the police department solve problems. Unlike traditional law enforcement where the police were the answer to the problem, the Chandler Police Department includes the community as a valuable part of the problem solving team.

The Crime Prevention Unit also offers programs that assist members of the community such as, dangerous stranger and safety programs for children, personal safety programs, home and business security surveys and many others to help keep the Chandler Community a safe place and prevent crime. The members of the Chandler Police Department are available for business safety presentations and fairs, as well as, neighborhood block parties.
