Auto Theft/Repeat Offender Unit

The auto theft unit investigates not only auto thefts that have occurred, but it also looks at crime trends related to this offense. They are striving to be proactive in their investigations as to where these crimes are most occurring and the best ways to stop them.

The Repeat Offender Program is designed to enhance sentencing on repeat criminals throughout the state of Arizona. Chandler R.O.P. detectives identify criminals who are committing five or more non-drug felony crimes per week or are violent predators. Detectives must then do an extensive background investigation on the offenders and present the findings to a committee. Once offenders are placed in the repeat offender program, they can receive increased sentencing over non-repeat offenders. Being a R.O.P. detective requires working closely with other law enforcement agencies as well as prosecutors throughout the state.
