Thursday, October 15, 2009

CHANDLER, AZ. On October 6, 2009, a two-year old boy was admitted into Desert Banner Hospital and was found to have a spiral fracture to his left femur and a possible fracture to a vertebrae.  The mother and mother’s live-in boyfriend could not provide an explanation as to the injuries so Chandler detectives were called to investigate.

Detectives served a search warrant on the home, located at 2022 N. Nevada Street, apartment 2025, in Chandler.  During the search, detectives located adult pornography, marijuana and methamphetamines in areas the children could easily access.

On October 15 at approximately 10:20 AM, both Amanda L. Corwin, a twenty-two year old Chandler resident, and Matthew J. Lallemand, a thirty-two year old Chandler resident, were arrested for child abuse for recklessly storing methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in areas easily accessible to both children in the home.  In addition the couple is being charged with 2 counts of furnishing harmful material to a minor, possession of marijuana, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and 2 counts of child neglect.  The investigation of the injuries to the two-year old is still on going.  Both have been booked into the Maricopa County Jail.  The two-year old boy has since been released from the hospital.  He and his one-year old sister have been placed in protective custody.
