Order of Protection
An Order of Protection can prohibit the abuser from contacting the victim, committing further offenses, going to the victim's residence (even if the abuser lived at this address), going to the victim's workplace, and will provide other relief necessary for the protection of the victim or designated person. It can also order that a firearm be turned over to the police and held during the duration of the Order of Protection.

The person seeking an Order of Protection may request that his/her address be kept confidential, and the filing and service fees be waived if he/she cannot afford the cost. The court makes the final decision regarding whether or not to waive filing and service fees, however, an agency charged with the duty of serving Orders of Protection MAY NOT require prepayment of service fees.

IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, INCLUDING ACTS OF VIOLENCE OR THREAT OF PHYSICAL HARM, CALL 9-1-1 OR POLICE COMMUNICATIONS AT (480) 782-4130.
