Current Case Status

A. INITIAL REPORT Your initial report has been made. If you have additional information that could be helpful to the investigation, please call Police Communications at (480)782-4130. Please refer to the original report number on the front of this brochure. You will be notified by the investigating officer if further information is needed or obtained reference your case. If you have any questions regarding the status of your case, please call Police Records Division at (480) 782-4000.

B. CITATION ISSUED This case involves an offender who has been cited and released. The offender is to appear at the Chandler City Court (200 East Chicago Street, Chandler, Arizona 85225), on the date and time indicated on the front of this brochure. In misdemeanor matters, the defendant may enter a plea of guilty at the initial appearance/arraignment and be sentenced at that time. If you wish to be heard regarding sentencing, you must either appear at the initial appearance/arraignment or submit a written or video/audio taped statement to the court (or the Police Department if court is closed). C. FELONY SUBMITTED This case is a felony and will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office (222 E. Javelina, Mesa, Arizona 85202) for review and possible filing of charges. D. MISDEMEANOR SUBMITTED This case is a misdemeanor and is being submitted to the Chandler City Prosecutor's Office (250 E. Chicago St., Chandler, Arizona 85225) for review and possible filing of charges. For further information, contact them at (480) 782-4610. Please be patient as it is common practice for the review to take several months. Only misdemeanors involving physical injury, the threat of physical injury, or a sexual offense are covered by the victims' rights mandates.

E. FELONY ARREST This case involves a felony charge or a mixture of felony and mis- demeanor charges. The case will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office (602) 506-2600. The County Attorney must file within two working days if court action is to continue on this case. To determine the location of the court and time of the initial appearance contact Maricopa County Superior Court Victim Information Service at (602) 876-8276 (24 hours). They will inform you on how to make your wishes known about the defendant's release.

F. MISDEMEANOR ARREST This case involved misdemeanor charge(s) only. Initial appearances are held every day at the Chandler City Court (200 E. Chicago St., Chandler, Arizona 85225) at 8:30 A.M. You have the right to be present at the hearing and make a statement regarding the issue of release. If it is a weekend and the court is locked, please respond to the Chandler Police Department main lobby, (250 East Chicago St. Chandler, Arizona 85225) and the front desk can assist you.

G. JUVENILE REFERRAL The juvenile suspect in your case was referred to the Juvenile Court but not detained. It usually takes four to six weeks for formal action to begin. H. JUVENILE DETAINED This case involves a juvenile who was detained at the Juvenile Court Detention Center. A screening officer has discretion to either release the juvenile or detain the juvenile pending a formal petition being filed by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office within 24 hours. The screening officer can be reached at (602) 506-4285 for your input. It is important to give this input in a timely manner as these decisions are made soon after the juvenile arrives at the detention center.
