Helpful Info - Radio Frequencies
The primary radio system for the City of Chandler is a Motorola 800-MHz trunked radio system used by Police, Public Works, and general city services. If you have not listened to trunked radio systems before, you should be cautioned that you will hear everything. Everything includes all of Public Works, Streets, Waste, Water, computer data, and Police. Each night at midnight the trunked system assigns one of the ten channels as the data channel. Each day listeners should lockout the data channel and unlock the channel from the previous day. Every morning at 5:00 A.M., computers that control water irrigation and sprinklers download information to a mainframe computer. All of this is transferred via normal voice repeaters. If you're not discouraged by all this, the frequencies are listed below in rotation order:

Mobil Data Terminals (MDT's) are used throughout the Police whenever possible. 85% of the radio traffic, that used to be voiced, is sent by MDT. The primary reasons for the use of MDT's is accuracy and accountability. Voice traffic and dispatcher work load are kept to a minimum using this state of the art technology. Decoding and receiving any of the MDT information by hooking your computer to a scanner will not work, sorry.
Why do we give this information out? Isn't it secret? NO!, it is not secret. All of the above information is public record. The Chandler frequencies can be found in any number of commercially available publications; releasing this information saves the Communications Section time by not having to read all of the above information over the phone when someone calls. This is just another part of Chandler's Community Policing Program. |
